Option 1

Paying on your own

No caseworker or voucher required. You are looking for a clean, quiet place to live at a fair price with utilities covered. That works here on the same Housing Agreement as everyone else.

Every resident signs their own month-to-month Housing Agreement and pays their own rent. You are responsible for yourself and your own space, and agree to the basic residence rule: an alcohol- and drug-free household.

What happens next:

  1. 1Submit your contact info on the application.
  2. 2We call you to review your application.
  3. 3Tour the residence and review residence rules.
  4. 4Sign your Housing Agreement and set your move-in day.
Option 2

Using a voucher

We welcome Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) and HUD-VASH voucher holders, including portability transfers from other housing authorities.

We know the paperwork and inspection process, and we cooperate with your Housing Authority representative directly. To be transparent: the Housing Authority's process takes several weeks and we cannot shorten or expedite their timeline. We will be straight with you at every step about where your paperwork stands.

Please note: Dream Shift Homes does not administer housing vouchers, determine voucher eligibility, or act as a government housing agency.

What happens next:

  1. 1Submit your contact info and let us know you hold an active voucher.
  2. 2We connect to confirm your voucher type and request for tenancy approval (RFTA) packet.
  3. 3We submit owner documentation to the Housing Authority for rent reasonableness and scheduling the unit inspection.
  4. 4Once approved by the Housing Authority, execute the Housing Agreement and move in.
Option 3

Paid by an agency

When a community organization, reentry group, health plan, or nonprofit pays for an individual's housing, we can set up direct third-party invoicing.

The individual signs the Housing Agreement as a resident living independently. The paying organization issues payment directly to Dream Shift Homes according to their billing terms.

We work collaboratively with navigators and caseworkers. We welcome agency representatives to tour the home in advance of submitting referrals.

What happens next:

  1. 1Case manager or housing specialist contacts us or fills out the referral inquiry.
  2. 2We schedule a time for you (and the prospective resident if available) to tour the home.
  3. 3Establish third-party vendor billing setup and confirm coverage terms.
  4. 4Sign the Housing Agreement and schedule move-in.

A quiet, independent household

Regardless of how rent is paid, every resident signs the same Housing Agreement and is held to the same standard: clean up after yourself, respect roommates, pay on time, and maintain a 100% alcohol- and drug-free household.
